Episode 1 - The Magnificent Ones

Nanako Misono, a young and rather naive teenager living with her mother and stepfather, corresponds regularly with the 'big brother' she chose herself.
Takehiko Henmi substitued for one of her professor when she was in secodary school. The day he had to leave, without really knowing why, she asked him this: 'Would you be my brother?' Later on, she will remember the first time she saw him under the rain, when she was only five years old.

Today is a great day for Nanako, for she is admitted in first year with her best friend Tomoko at Seiran HighSchool, a reputable school for girls. First disappointment: they're not in the same class. Yet Nanako won't remain alone for long. As soon as Tomoko leaves her, another girl grabs Nanako. Her name is Mariko Shinobu, and she's a beautiful yet somewhat strange girl, who eagerly wants to be her friend. A bit lost in this new universe, Nanako is happy to stay with Mariko, who answers to all her questions. Who's that mysterious girl Nanako knocked in the bus and is called Saint Just? What are her connections with Fukiko Ichinomiya? What is this prestigious Sorority directed by the latter, which accepts only few new elected members every year? And what is the secret of Kaoru no Kimi, one of the school most popular girls and captain of the basketball team, who has been away for a long time for medical reasons?
Nanako doesn't know yet that during this year, she will learn even more... and maybe even too much...

Episode 2 - The Glass Slippers

In the train on their way to school, Nanako explains to Tomoko how she considers Takehiko and what are her sentiments for him. She's not in love with him, but deep inside she feels the lack of a confident. He had given her his address so she could write to him. That was all she wanted.
At school, the conversation between Tomoko and Nanako is brutally interrupted by the sudden arrival of Mariko who drives Nanako away from her friend. Her attitude puzzles and somewhat grieves Tomoko.

The same afternoon, the nomination of the girls who will be able to candidate for the Sorority membership takes place. Mariko and Nanako are among the chosen ones with Kaoru no Kimi, but the latter disagrees with the principle of the Sorority and refuses the proposition. Misaki Aya, who thought she would be a member of the Sorority like her mother before her, is jealous and violently opposes that Nanako could enter the club.
All the while, Nanako is dumbfounded. She never thought that the elder students would choose her, and still now she doesn't believe she is worthy to be part of the Sorority.

Episode 3 - Nanako is Disqualified?

Nanako begins to suffer from Misaki's jealousy, who makes everything to discourage her. Her father is a lawyer and she found in his office some documents proving that the Professor Misono wasn't Nanako real father, the latter being unknown. She decides to reveal all this to the other students, thinking that all the despise it will generate will force Nanako to drop her candidacy to the Sorority.

At first it seems that she has reached her goal. Nanako, miserable, is ready to renounce, but Tomoko cheers her up and incites her to hold on.

Misaki, mad with anger, tries then to make her miss her presentation to the Sorority. She calls at the Misono's, pretending to be Fukiko Ichinomiya, and tells that the time for the reunion has been changed to 3 o' clock pm, instead of twelve.

Nanako, who doesn't suspect anything, spends this time with Tomoko.

Meanwhile, Mariko is worried. The Sority members have already seen all the candidates, and Nanako is still not here. She prays Fukiko to wait for Nanako, who finally arrives two hours late. But does she have a chance to be qualified now?

Episode 4 - The Music Box

Nanako answers with many difficulties to Fukiko's questions during her presentation. She leaves the Sorority with the certainty that she has failed.
With Mariko, she finally discovers that Misaki is responsible of her misfortune. Nanako doesn't understand why she is so mean with her.

The next day, the surprise is general. Along with Mariko, Nanako is now an official member of the Sorority! Tomoko isn't really happy about that, and what's more, Mariko does everything to arouse her jealously in order to monopolize Nanako.

The other students, led by Aya Misaki, attack Nanako, but Kaoru no Kimi is here to calm them down.

But Misaki won't drop it. She tells everybody that the Professor Misono was already married when he met Nanako's mother, and that he had abandoned his wife and child for her.

Nanako is horrified. She didn't know it, and refuses to believe that her father and mother could have lied to her.
Yet her mother seems to act strangley when she sees Takehiko's name on the back of a parcel he sent to Nanako.

Could it be...

Episode 5 - Thorns of Doubt and Suspicion

Nanako doesn't know what to think of her mother and father. Plus, Tomoko refuses to talk to her and she can't have it out with her.

She feels lonely despite Mariko's insisting presence. The two of them witness an argument between Kaoru and Rei. The latter wants to swallow a full hand of pills and she won't let Kaoru stop her. But when Fukiko arrives, she settles down.
Quite strangely, Fukiko, who was rather cold with her until that point, ask her to help the members of the Sorority to decorate their assembly room, and Rei obeys her blindly.
However, Fukiko seizes the occasion to injured her, striking down a kanzan on her hand. Only Nanako beholds her act, while the others think it is an accident. As Fukiko refuses to heal Rei's hand, she takes care of it, drawing Fukiko's anger on her. Nanako begins to have doubts on the frightening President of the Sorority.

In the meantime, Nanako's mother comes to see Takehiko. During their conversation, we learn that is his the son of the Professor Misono and that his father really left his mother to live with Nanako's. But over time, he has forgiven to them and confess that he's happy that Nanko considers him as her brother. Yet Nanako's mother pray him not to tell the truth to the young girl, thinking that she's not ready to learn this.
Once she's gone, Takehiko remembers his childhood, when he spied on Nanako playing with the Professor Misono. Despite what he said, he deeply suffered from the separation with his father.

Rei, too, is suffering, alone in her dark flat, drugging herself with medicines...

Episode 6 - Lost and Alone

The pression to which Nanako is subjected so that she'll leave the Sorority is beoming unbearable. This time, her sport clothes have disappeared. Nanako then asks Tomoko to lend her hers, but the latter refuses. Tomoko now seems to have only contempt for her former friend, which Nanako doesn't understand, knowing not what Mariko had told Tomoko.
Nanako finally finds her clothes, completely torn-down. After that, unable to bear this situation any longer, Nanako decides to go and tell Fukiko she quits the Sorority. But Miya-sama doesn't agree to that....

Episode 7 - The Darkness in the Clock Tower

Nanako finds a box full of razor blades in her school locker. Unstrugn despite Fukiko's urging, she wanders in the school's bell tower, where sh'es surprised to find Rei smoking. The latter seems to come here regularly to throw knives on a figure drawn on the wall, which looks like Fukiko's. Nanako begins to really wonder about the relationship between Miya-sama and Siant Just.
Nanako makes some research at the school library to learn more about the french revolutionary Saint just. She meets Kaoru who tells her how Rei and her had become friends, and how Rei was full of life and energy before she suddenly retreated into herself.FONT>

Misaki once again attacks Nanako after school, but this time Tomoko beholds it and stick up for her old friend. Then they return to the square where they used to play when they were younger, and finally make it up.
